The Avon Vail Valley Arena Initiative will be a nonprofit organization providing a solution to replace the aging and obsolete Dobson Arena in Vail with a world class and conveniently located 7,500-seat multipurpose arena along with three additional indoor ice sheets to serve youth and adult hockey players, figure skaters, short-track speed skaters and curling enthusiasts along with para and adaptive athletes from not only Eagle County but from all over Colorado.
After raising construction funds and building the arena and ice sports facility, AVVAI will continue to manage and operate the complex on a nonprofit basis in partnership with the Town of Avon, while providing ongoing leadership, instructional and financial support to youth and community ice sports at all levels throughout the Vail Valley and Colorado. Additionally, the arena and entire structure will be one of the most environmentally conscious and sustainable sports and entertainment facilities in the world.
