Families Forward Resource Center (FFRC) is a full-service family resource center providing supportive services and programs to northeast Denver and north Aurora metro areas. Our mission is to enrich entire families through partnerships and services that create a safe, healthy, and connected community. FFRC has been serving the Far Northeast Denver and Aurora communities for over 20 years. FFRC’s flagship program, Healthy Babies, Strong Families, is dedicated to advancing Black Birthing Justice through the provision of direct services, case management, resource navigation, and group-based education and system’s level change through community partnerships, collaboration, coordination, and advocacy.
Position Summary
Families Forward Resource Center (FFRC) is seeking a Black Birthing Justice Program Manager to join our team and our Healthy Babies, Strong Families program. The Program Manager supports successful implementation of all aspects of the Black Birthing Justice – A Colorado Imperative grant which aims to advance birth equity through organizational advocacy, grassroots mobilization, community member advocacy training, and advocacy with policy makers for Black Birthing Families in Colorado. The Program Manager is responsible for achieving programmatic goals, including those set by the funder and the team.
To be successful in this role, the Program Manager needs to be foundationally dedicated to Black birthing justice and passionate to advance efforts at a local and state level. The Program Manager should be forward thinking, innovative, reflective, detail oriented and team-oriented. They should share a commitment to lifelong learning to expand expertise, advance programmatic and organizational support to program participants and community, and engage in quality improvement efforts to optimize support and services.
Essential Duties
Under the supervision of the Director of Programs, the Program Manager will:
- Oversee and support all aspects of program planning, coordination, and implementation including:
- Advocacy and Accountability Efforts for Organizations – Accountability Structures
- Co-facilitating meetings and efforts with FFRC’s clinical partners’ Black Birthing Justice Workgroup
- Community Organizing and Mobilizing to Advance Racial Justice for Black Birthing Individuals and Families & Advocacy Leadership and Training with Community Members
- Advocacy and Accountability Efforts for Policymakers
- Intentional collaboration with existing organizational partners and the cultivation of new partnerships to maximize reach and impact
- Plan, coordinate, and implement efforts to learn from experts across the country regarding accountability structures, especially community-clinical partnerships focused on maternal and infant health through key informant interviews
- Participate in Community Consortium monthly meetings and collaborate on Community
Consortium efforts
- Facilitate Community Conversation sessions to advance advocacy-related strategic planning, advocacy training, and advocacy efforts within the community around Black Birthing Justice
- Support community mobilization around maternal health advocacy through intentional outreach with community members, logistical and administrative support of community trainings, and training support
- Collaborate with the internal FFRC team and Denver Health Partners to define advocacy goals, measurement, and tracking systems.
- Support the creation and utilization internal systems for tracking, monitoring, learning, and reporting regarding advocacy-related efforts
- Engage in learning and quality improvement to optimize participant and community member outcomes and experiences as related to their birthing journeys
- Attend grant related meetings with program officers
- Collaborate on funder initiatives
- Actively participate in Leadership Team meetings
- Facilitate program team meetings including agenda creation and follow-up
- Attend all staff required meetings and trainings
- Collaboratively coordinate and complete funder-related reports
- Contribute to grant writing
- Contribute to strategic planning
- Complete required trainings and maintain appropriate credentials
- Maintain positive rapport with program participants, community members, organizational partners, and co-workers including treating others with respect
- Exhibit professional demeanor with program participants, community members, organizational partners, and co-workers
- Other duties as assigned
This is an in-person role three days a week with two flexible hybrid days to meet with participants and complete administrative duties; team member schedules are discussed and co-created with supervisor. Work schedule, in-office and out-of-office days, must be coordinated and approved with Supervisor and entered into a shared calendar including any changes.

- Participation as a FFRC team player by attending staff meetings and other organizational events
- Willingness to share knowledge to advance knowledge and skills of others
- Understand and commitment to follow all policies, procedures & protocols as set forth in the CNDC/FFRC Employee Handbook
- Conformance to a drug-free workplace, not be under the influence of alcohol and/or other illicit drugs of misuse and abuse
- A professional, positive, and polite attitude and relationship with other FFRC employees, volunteers, clients, and customers
Minimum Qualifications
Education/Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Public Health, Sociology, Psychology or related field of study
- Demonstrated commitment to Black Birthing Justice with a shared vision for a thriving community through the perinatal period and beyond
- Advocacy experience including community organizing, mobilization, organizational advocacy, and advocacy with policymakers
Preferred Qualifications
- Masters Degree in Social Work, Public Health, Sociology, Psychology or related field of study
Compensation & Benefits
This is a grant-funded position that is dependent on external funding, therefore continued employment is contingent upon the receipt of funding to cover this role.
- Compensation: $60,000.00 – $70,000 per year dependent on education and experience
- Benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Short-Term and Long-Term Disability, Telehealth, LifeLock, and paid time off. Benefits will become effective the first day of the month after 30 days of employment. You must work over 24 hours a week to qualify for benefits and will be pro-rated if you are part time.
- This is an in-person role three days a week with two flexible hybrid days to meet with participants and complete administrative duties. Must be available to attend various scheduled in-person events, office meetings, and check-ins even if they do not align with your out-of-office work schedule.
